Simulated Mouse Mechanism using Hand Movement Signals

The leap motion technique gains a lot of attraction nowadays. In this certain functionality is controlled through waving our hands in front of computers or laptops. There are various operating devices like keyboard, mouse, VCR remote control to control the computing devices. In the dark, controlling the functionality of a computer or laptop is difficult. Analysis of literature revels that good number of automation mechanisms are available to control the functionalities of cursor on laptop or PC environment irrespective of lightening or darkness. The leap motion technique using hand gestures enhances these services. In this work, a simulated mouse mechanism is analyzed which provides infrastructure between user and system through interactive hand movement signals. This mechanism allows people to interact with the machine without using any mechanical devices like a keyboard, mouse, etc. The functionalities like dragging, resizing, clicking are carried out using hand signals. The analysis of simulated mouse mechanism may lead to propose an innovative automation mechanism to control the input device functionality. In this work as part of existing mechanisms analysis, the webcam used as input device, python and OpenCV tools are used for implementation and the user regulates it based on camera output on the system screen. Python libraries like NumPy, math, and mouse utilized for implementation and results are analyzed in terms of stability, practicality, and compatibility with physical mechanisms.
