Model of a 4-waveguide Regional Applicator for Microwave Hyperthermia

In this contribution we would like to describe a feasibility study of a regional applicator for microwave hyperthermia based on principle of four waveguides. Such the microwave multiport enables to focus the microwave power into the area to be treated. Whole applicator was simulated by finite difference time domain (FDTD) method implemented in SEMCAD X. We implemented the discussed applicator and we verified it experimentally in our laboratory. The values of the S

parameters were measured by the vector analyzer below the level of (-15) to (-50) dB for all waveguides. Four reflectors have been added to our model in order to help to better focus of the SAR around the central part of the phantom. At the end we studied the temperature distribution.
