Arduino Based Portable ECG and PPG Signal Acquisition System

Health and wellness is a critical issue which is of paramount importance for all human beings. Continuous and regular monitoring of certain physiological parameters like blood pressure, oxygen saturation level, heart rate can result in early detection of an abnormality and prevent serious ailment. This requirement clubbed with paucity of sufficient health infrastructure for large population especially those residing in remote and rural areas, has led to increased interest in development of portable, low cost home health monitoring systems. In this work, an arduino based portable ECG and PPG acquisition system has been presented. Two arduino boards, arduino Uno and arduino Due, have been studied and compared. The parameters like arterial oxygen saturation level, heart rate etc. were computed from the acquired signals and displayed for ready reference along with the acquired signals.
