Design of Multi-Protocol Infrared System for Home Appliances

The development and research regarding the control system of household electronic equipment today have been widely done. The control system was developed based on infrared aimed at replacing various types of conventional remotes so that users only have one sophisticated remote that can control various types and brands of household electronic devices. However, the existing developments do not provide many changes to the control system of household electronic devices; significant changes are only about brands that can be supported by the system without providing other additional features. In this research, the design of a universal remote control system that can copy data and multi-protocols from conventional infrared remotes. This capability allows the remote control system to function as a conventional remote. This research was implemented on DVD and TV devices with several commonly used brands such as Asiatech, Sony, Polytron, Samsung, and Panasonic. The results obtained that from several brands tested, there are coding constraints and reading signal data on conventional Panasonic remotes on both DVD and TV devices. While in other brand electronic devices, the system can read and encode signals instead of conventional remotes.
