Ultra-Wideband Dipole Antenna With Parasitic Pair for 5G/UWB MIMO Smartphone Application

In this paper, an ultra-wideband dipole antenna with parasitic element pair is proposed for fifth-generation (5G) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) mobile communication. By employing a parasitic element pair, the proposed antenna array obtains ultra-wide bandwidth of 100% (3-9 GHz) with reflection coefficient less than -6 dB, and achieves 16 dB isolations across the entire bands. Particularly, more than 54% total efficiency and 2.5 dBi gain can be realized.
