Limitation of Dynamic Loads of the Mechatronic System of the Rolling Stand

The authors underline the relevance of matching the speeds of electromechanical systems of the main mechanism at the production line of a heavy-plate rolling mill. By the example of the reversing rolling stand, mill 5000, the authors analyze the causes of inadmissible dynamic loads occurring when metal is griped by rolls. Further, oscillograms are provided to prove the relevance of limiting the dynamic torque components. The authors state the objectives which should be solved to achieve the set goal. The paper provides a rationale for a comprehensive approach based upon the idea of limiting dynamic loads by matching speed modes of electromechanical and hydraulic systems of the reversing mill stand. The authors present a method for controlling roll electric drives. This method allows limiting the amplitude and flexible oscillations of a dynamic torque by means of forming special tachograms of electric drives. The article gives the results of modeling transition processes during metal grip by rolls. It considers the methods of limiting a horizontal component of the impact torque due to the automatic increase of the gap between rolls before grip with further roll return to a set state during rolling. The oscillograms proving the limitation of dynamic loads are given. The authors draw a conclusion on the efficiency of the developed technical solutions. In addition, the directions of further R&D are stated.
