Synthetic Sea-Clutter Modelling for STAP

Airborne radars now have active multi-channel antennas. This allows evolved processing implementation such as STAP, which improves the coherent detection of slow targets in clutter. However, sea-clutter is highly inhomogeneous, which must be taken into account in the algorithm design. The industrial development of those radars is facilitated by using realistic synthetic environments. This paper describes improvements on previously published coherent clutter generation methods with emphasis on the realistic reproduction of inhomogeneities.
