Measurement Uncertainties for Mixed-Mode S-Parameters

In this paper, the mathematical relation between single-ended and mixed-mode S-parameters is briefly described, and a complete measurement uncertainty analysis for the measurement of twisted pair cables is presented. Theoretically derived results, as well as measurements are reported and compared, and a new way to treat drift and repeatability in measurement systems for mixed-mode S-parameters is proposed. The latter resulting in more realistic and often smaller measurement uncertainties.
