Research on lightning arrest configuration scheme of 500kV substation

Light arrester configuration is one of the important tasks of substation design. The configuration principles of arresters in the general design of 500kV substations have a certain degree of versatility, but the arrester configuration should also be checked according to the specific engineering conditions during the design. Through the lightning intrusion wave overvoltage simulation calculation of the substation, the maximum electrical distance between the arrester and the protected main equipment can be determined, and the designer can adjust and improve the layout of the main equipment accordingly. Taking the actual project of 500kV substation as a case, the paper studies different system scale and wiring mode in the early stage of the project, and obtains different lightning arrester configuration schemes. The conclusion can be used as a reference for substation designers.
