Mobile Literacy and Digital Competences of Foreign Language Teachers in Higher School

Active use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in the professional activities of educators is a priority in modernizing education around the world. These technologies not only enrich the professional practice of the teacher but also help the student to adapt to the world of digital technologies. The article presents the experience of the Department’s of Foreign Languages staff at a technical university, acquired as a result of a sudden transition to distance education due to the 2020 pandemic. Data on the technical and methodological readiness of foreign language teachers for online work are given. In addition, survey data of undergraduate students regarding their satisfaction with the teaching staff’s level of proficiency in ICT, as well as overall satisfaction with remote work are presented. Spearman’s correlation coefficient indicates the relationship between teachers’ computer and mobile literacy and the students’ overall satisfaction with distance learning.
