7 Security and Privacy challenge in Smart Healthcare and Telemedicine systems

Smart healthcare and telemedicine Systems are available for usage by patients and doctors. Many industries are providing mobile/web based e-healthcare and TMIS systems where patients and doctors can interact with each other using remote services. These systems are using cloud storage to store patients health related digital records. Security and privacy maintenance is a challenge in these cloud based services. In-efficient authentication schemes for authenticating users (patients, doctors, medical staff etc.) is also a challenge in widely usage of these systems. Digital health record is a critical information for each patients. If a hacker hacks these medical reports and make some tempering in these documents by changing their prescription given by the doctors then it will affect the health of the patient. In this chapter, we will discuss the current challenges in security and privacy in using smart healthcare systems.
