A Generic Approach for Multivariate Process Optimization

Process based management frameworks often indicate which activities need to be done, but not indicate how to share focus between different parallel activities. In other words, how much to concentrate on different processes to increase success.In order to increase the efficiency of digital transformation in all areas of business processes, it is important to customize and fit project management methods to achieve optimal solutions. Furthermore, the younger the generation, the more digitalized solutions they expect. This paper examines the possibility of using mathematical multivariate optimization methods to improve the performance of various process-based management models and methods. It is based on the result of the paper "Multivariate Optimization of PMBOK Version 6 Project Process Relevance" which shows a successful application of Multivariate Optimization in Case of PMBOK. This result is used as a blueprint for a generic process model to be applicable for many different applications. The effectiveness of the generic model is examined by applying it to two subsets of collected process datasets evaluating its usability under certain criteria. As a result, it is shown, that the generic model would most likely be applicable in general under the boundary and condition of a sufficient amount of data available for optimization.
