A Comparative Study on Algorithms Applied to the Design of Assistive Technology for Autism and Spectrum Disorder: Far and Beyond

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a mental disorder affecting mostly kids of 3 to 12 years of age. If the disorder is detected in the early stage, it can be treated in a better way and make the kids socialize with society. In fact, it is not a disease to diagnose and cure, it is just a disorder to normalize and assist with them. It will be much helpful for the caregivers to use some assistive technologies for this type of child learner to improve their motor skills and functional disabilities. So, the purpose of this paper is to explore whether the support of assistive technology brings any change in the learning abilities or cognitive skills enhancement of such children. The results of various research along with the experimental study results in this paper show that the role of assistive technologies brings tremendous improvement in such children's daily routines/learning habits. The most common reason that families abandon assistive technology is the lack of training and sometimes the device's cost. The propsoed research study has reviewed the research works done so far on this technology and how it impacts the lives of people. Various methodologies and algorithms have been discussed with the pros and cons in it. The comparison and the characteristics enhancement of these works are also discussed.
