Splitting and Concentration of Solar Spectrum using Compound Holographic Optical Element for Nanowire and Nanopillar Solar Cells

In the present work, a transmission holographic grating and an off-axis zone plate have been recorded on the same high resolution holographic plate, superimposed over each other. The recorded compound holographic optical element performs the twin function of spectrum splitting and their concentration. Such concentrating system may find their application as a photovoltaic dispersive concentrating system for laterally arranged multiple bandgap nanowire solar cells and nanopillar solar cells. Recording, playback geometry, and spectrum of white light passing through such a compound system are presented.
