TeraHertz Antenna for Biomedical Application

The design of a terahertz antenna for riboflavin detection is the subject of this paper. Using CST Studio Suite 2020, the proposed antenna is designed and simulated. Three layers are being used to construct the microstrip antenna. The rectangular patch is modeled on the top layer, while the substrate is modeled on the second layer, and the ground plane is drawn on the bottom layer. The antenna design uses an FR4 substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.3 and a substrate thickness of 0.52666 $\mu \mathrm{m}$. Ground plane, feed line, and patch are made of copper material with a thickness of 0.02$\mu \mathrm{m}$. The proposed design provides a gain of 2.13 dBi, and the radiation pattern is Omnidirectional. The frequency band is obtained at 3.5101 THz up to 3.9656 THz and has a bandwidth of 455.5 GHz, where the return loss of the proposed antenna is 52. 97dB. The antenna resonates at 3.734 THz. As a result, an antenna is well-suited for biomedical applications such as riboflavin detection.
