Measurement Performance of NKN Piezo Material for Powering Shoe-mounted Sensor

Depending on the location of the wanderer or the placement of the battery, recharging or exchanging can be difficult for the fruitful operation of wireless body area communication technology. To ensure an independent system for the dementia affected people, energy harvesting by piezo from human motion could be a great alternative. In this paper, we investigated the AC-DC conversion performance of NKN piezoelectric material to meet this purpose. The measurement was conducted as a system overview of energy harvesting in a shoemounted human foot, and the results showed peak output voltage from this material in the order of 2.3 V, which can produce a DC voltage of 1.4 V by an adequate rectifier.
