Coplanar Waveguide Antenna Using Resistive Load for Wireless Communication Systems

The antenna with wide-band operational frequency is expected to be one of the innovations of communication devices. Coplanar Waveguide (CPW) antenna is one of the antennas that have an ultra-wideband frequency. This CPW antenna has a ground plane which is located adjacent to the feed line. In this study, the CPW antenna was designed and simulated using the CST Studio Suite 2021 software to produce UWB operational frequencies. The antenna design uses FR-4 Epoxy substrate with ε

= 4.3. The antenna design is made into two forms. First, the CPW antenna is designed without resistive load. Second, the CPW antenna is coupled with a resistive load of varying values. The purpose of adding this resistive load is to widen the operational frequency of the antenna. Based on the results obtained, there is an increase in the operating frequency of the antenna when a resistive load is used. When the antenna is no resistive load, the operating frequency has a range of 2-6GHz. When the resistive load is added, the operating frequency of the antenna becomes 2-7GHz. The use of this resistive load has the disadvantage that it reduces the gain, radiation efficiency, and affects the radiation pattern.
