Fractional Order Modelling and Controller Design for Non-ideal DC-DC Buck Converter

In this paper, modelling of fractional order non-ideal dc-dc buck converter based on state space averaging technique is proposed. The unique feature of the proposed approach is that the uncertainties in the energy storage components such as inductor and capacitor are also taken into consideration while carrying out the fractional order modelling. Further, fractional order internal model controller is designed using fractional order filter for the fractional order model of a non-ideal dc-dc buck converter. The final controller can be expressed as a series combination of fractional order proportional integral derivative controller, fractional order integrator and a fractional order low pass filter. An extensive comparison of the set point tracking and robustness with the existing techniques of controller design is a testimony to the efficacy and robustness of the proposed technique.
