Cost Effective and Efficient Absorbent Brick Sand Particles (Surkhi) for Removal of Chromium from Solution

In this investigation, we are presenting an adsorbent for removal of Cr (VI) from waste water which will be cost effective, efficient, eco-friendly and preventing further pollution by the adsorbent. In Bangladesh, after Arsenic, Chromium is the second metal which is polluting our environment in high level of toxicity. This heavy metal usually come from tannery industries. This Chromium metal is highly liquefiable in water and easily contaminated in soil as well as our food chain which may be deposited in our body and causes severe health issue. Many types of adsorbents are also used for the removal of Chromium metal from waste water. Here, in this study we used brick sand particles (surkhi) which is easily available, very cheap and convenient adsorbents, with high removal capacity. The effect of the concentration was investigated to the adsorption capacity of Cr (VI) on to the adsorbent. The aim of this research is to investigate the removal of Cr(VI) from waste water through adsorption process by the brick sand particles (surkhi) at different concentration in a convenient way. In this process, we removed about 94% of Cr from wastes water. Therefore, we may conclude that Surkhi can play an important role as a cost effective, efficient and easily available adsorbent for removal of Cr(VI) from wastes water. Moreover, we may use Cr (VI) saturated surkhi for construction elements to prevent further pollution.
