The Methodological Foundations of Building an Energy Efficient Community

The work is devoted to the issue of energy security, namely the identification of promising local resources for biogas reactors. The development of methodological foundations for the implementation of territorial energy complexes on local raw materials for urban areas is the purpose of the work. Traditional approaches to the analysis of possible raw materials are not very acceptable for urban areas, so it was hypothesized that it is appropriate to identify it by indirect signs, namely methane emissions, which were estimated by satellite monitoring from the European Agency. The concentration of gases in the atmosphere was measured by continuous scanning with a TROPOMI spectrometer in the ultraviolet, visible, near, and short-wave infrared spectrum. Thanks to the use of the cloud platform for geospatial analysis of Google Earth Engine, it was possible to create a web application to display spatiotemporal changes in the content of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere with the ability to determine the concentration. For the first time, it was possible to identify the presence of significant seasonal methane emissions in the Kyiv region, the peak concentration occurs in October. Based on the results of the experiment, which can be interpreted as indirect measurements of the above organic residues, there is a significant resource for the production of specialized pellets for biogas reactors for energy-efficient communities, on an industrial scale.
