Photoluminescence properties of Reactive Red 141 for organic light-emitting diode (OLED)

Photoluminescence (PL) properties of Reactive Red 141 (RR141) thin film were studied. The deposition of thin film was carried out by the mean of spin-coating technique on BK7 glass substrate in room temperature. The morphology of the thin films of the studied organic compound was examined by means of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and it shows a good homogeneity of compound in all the surface of studied compound. The obtained results of photoluminescence in high vacuum show that the temperature has an important impact. It decreases when we increase the temperature, this allow the studied organic dye to be used as sensor. Those PL obtained results by using as a source a Xenon lamp in room temperature show a good and high photoluminescence for the studied thin film, this result confirm that the studied organic dye can be applied as an organic light-emitting diode (OLED), and the presence of donor and acceptor moieties in the studied organic dye allow it to be applied in optoelectronic devices.
