Decision Making For A Proposed Traffic Management Solution With The Application Of IOT Technology

The urban population has expanded at an unforeseeable rate which has a direct impact on the daily commutation in the cities. The primary traffic problem emerges due to an increase in the number of commuters. IoT is a highly critical technology for improving the overall infrastructure of a city. This could include various features such as monitoring the parking spots in the towns, installing sound sensing and monitoring devices in different cities, and monitoring traffic levels. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of physical devices that may be uniquely addressed and identified with varying levels of sensing, storing, and actuation potential that can interact by sharing information using the Internet as their standard platform or as a backbone. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a promising and exciting new technology for making our cities innovative and responsive to the requirements of the ever-growing population. Effective traffic management is one such application. In this paper, several issues were identified pertaining to traffic such as delayed response time in case of emergency vehicles, increase in urbanization, gridlock traffic causing road congestion, inaccurate real time updates as well as inefficient traditional traffic management.From the review of literature on these problems, meaningful solutions emerged in several different contexts and presented in this paper as a compilation. As a result, by efficiently and successfully applying the proposed methods, we will reduce the number of accidents, reduce the quantity of fuel spent, and save time. At an individual level of residents, it will result in efficient time, effort and cost in commuting. Authorities could use the proposed strategy to help them improve the current system.
