Analysis of requirement of load matching for photovoltaic-maximum power tracking system

Solar energy is most available source of energy among all the renewables. It is clean and freely available form. The energy from the sun can be used either in terms of thermal energy or electrical energy from photovoltaic system. Connecting Photovoltaic system to resistive load it is found that the module starts operating at intersection point of curve of load and curve of IV. It is seen that hardly this point is at the maximum power point of the module. Even studies show that directly connected PV system utilizes only 30-40% of the total PV output. Thus DC-DC converters are used as interfacing device connecting the PV module and the load so that the efficiency of the PV system can be improved and MPPT process can be performed by load matching. Keeping all the input parameters of the PV side constant when the load resistance changes the duty ratio of the boost converter changes. Thus the design of converter is an important factor for satisfying the specifications of the source and load simultaneously.
