Research on Fusion Algorithm of Lightning Strike Trip Warning for Mountain Transmission Lines

How to realize the lightning strike trip early warning of transmission lines is a problem that has puzzled the electric power departments for a long time. However, the existing lightning strike trip warning technology can not fully consider the characteristics of regional lightning activity and the physical process of lightning strike lines, and there are problems with low early warning accuracy and high false alarm rate. Based on the lightning activity short-time warning technology, this paper proposes a lightning trip warning algorithm for transmission lines that combines the Monte Carlo method and the lightning fractal model. The algorithm can consider the characteristics of lightning activity and the physical process of lightning strikes. On the one hand, based on the regional lightning activity monitoring data, the variation of the lightning frequency with altitude and the cumulative probability distribution function of lightning current amplitude are obtained. And the target distribution sample required by the Monte Carlo method is built, to simulate the distribution of lightning current and the location in a certain area. On the other hand, the lightning leader fractal model is adopted to realize the simulation of the physical process of the randomness and determinism of the lightning leader development path. At the same time, based on the algorithm proposed, the lightning trip probability database of transmission lines is built to form a lightning trip warning system. The operation of the system in the Yunnan power grid shows that the warning accuracy rate is 87% in the 2021 thunderstorm season, which can help the relevant departments of the power grid to take measures in advance.
