Study on Discharge Decomposition Characteristics of Environmental Protection Insulating Medium CF3I

Recently, the environment-friendly insulating gas CF3I has attracted extensive attention due to its good insulating properties. However, there are few studies on the discharge decomposition characteristics of CF
3
I. In this paper, density functional theory is used to study the possible decomposition reactions of CF
3
I at the micro level. The energy changes before and after the decomposition path reaction of CF
3
I were calculated. Meanwhile, the generation path of CF
3
I discharge decomposition products and the influence of micro-water and micro-oxygen on the decomposition products are discussed. The insulation properties of CF
3
I discharge decomposition products were analyzed by calculating the ionization parameters of the products. The results show that the energy required by CF
3
I to decompose into CF
3
• radical and I
^-
after the direct adsorption of electrons is 226.624 kJ/mol, which is the most likely decomposition path. Under the influence of water and oxygen, the decomposition products of CF
3
I become complex, and C
2
F
4
, I
2
, HF and COF
2
are more likely to be generated. CF
3
I discharge decomposition products have strong electrical resistance. Therefore, CF
3
I can ensure certain insulation strength in gas insulation equipment such as GIS/GIL after discharge decomposition.
