A Study of insulation design on extra high voltage spacer of Eco-friendly material with built in E-CVT

This paper is a foundation study to develop a 170kV ultra-high voltage spacer including an electrical Current and Voltage transformer based on an eco-friendly insulating material, and performance verification was carried out by designing and manufacturing a spacer built-in an E-CVT of a 72.5kV prototype. First, for the electrical optimal shape insulation design of a three-phase spacer, an insulation design was performed through 3D modeling electric field simulation. and, based on the derived design proposal, a structural simulation was performed for the mechanical structural shape design considering the conductor bending test and the partition pressure test. Finally, based on the design proposal derived through electrical/mechanical simulation, a 72.5 kV prototype spacer with built-in E-CVT was produced and its performance was verified through partition pressure test. The results of this paper will be used as data for the insulation design of the extra-high voltage spacer including the electronic transformer based on eco-friendly insulation material to be produced in the future
