Optimizations of Induction Motors Finite Element Assisted Design Through the Global Response Surface Method

The paper relates to the improvement of the performances of a double squirrel-cage induction motor reference design. Optimums of the objective functions efficiency, power factor, starting breakdown torques, starting and rated currents are determined through mono - and multi-objective optimizations with the Global Response Surface Method (GRSM) algorithm. Design variables defining the cross-section of the stator and rotor slots and the motor axial section, which satisfies search ranges and constrains based on the design experience, are considered. The analysis of optimums and of the values of the correspondent design variables helps the decision for the best motor design.
