Identification of Power Systems Parameters Based on Wide Area Measurement Data

Despite the ongoing work on development of measures to prevent faults propagation in power systems, their effectiveness is determined, for the most part, by the possibility of their preventive verification. This, in turn, requires mathematical models that reliably reproduce processes in real power system. This study is devoted to the issue of identification of power systems mathematical models parameters according to wide area measurement system (WAMS) data. WAMS data from six generators of Kolskaya power plant were analyzed for this purpose. Investigation of identification issue using empirical mode decomposition method (EMD), Fourie transform and genetic algorithm is performed in the study. As the result, identification technique of mathematical model parameters based on modes spectrums of WAMS and modelled signals comparing are provided. Identification of the inertia coefficient and coefficients of automatic excitation control system were performed using proposed technique in the multi-machine grid and in the simplest-structure model "machine-line-infinite bus".
