Modeling of Web-Based Solar Powered and Battery Operated Automatic Trash Compactor

Waste Management is one of the major concerns in the 21
^st
century. The storage and disposal of waste in a particular area is essential to keep that area not only clean, but disease-free and pollution free hygienic environment. The trash bins set up by the administrative authorities are often full and overloaded. This causes littering of waste and unhygienic environment. In this paper, modelling of a web-based solar powered trash compactor is proposed, which will enable to compress the trash when it reaches to a certain level, with motor driven automatic trash compacting mechanical equipment. By doing so, more space can be created in the trash and more trash can be accommodated. A model is designed employing the various sensors like IR sensor, gas sensor, temperature sensors for detection of the trash level and safety measures. The source of power supply is proposed to through battery to be recharged by solar PV array. A web server and a microcontroller (ESP32) will monitor the device status

hours. MPPT Solar Charge controller will enable optimum utilization of solar energy. The simulation model is configured using Proteus and MATLAB. The results are validated to firm-up the various design parameters, specifications, control schemes and sizing of the various components. Economic analysis is carried out aiming the cost of the project to a minimum level. The advantages of the proposed web-based trash compactor over the use of normal bins are meticulously flagged. The simulations and control scheme programming establish the functioning and operation of the proposed trash compactor very impressive.
