A Novel Technique for Broadband Design and Optimization of HF Whip Antenna

Maximum transfer of power from the source to the antenna takes place when the impedances of the two are matched. To achieve this goal, loading and matching network are often utilized to make an antenna operate over a large range of frequencies. In this paper, the FEKO and ADS are invoked with a recently invented natural heuristic algorithm namely sparrow search algorithm (SSA) in MATLAB to realize the simulation and optimization of their components, showing promising prospect of this proposed technique for the integrated design of antenna. The design results presented show that the optimized antenna has voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) all less than 2 from 3MHz to 30MHz with an average value of 1.5 and achieved the broadband design of HF whip antenna, which indicates the good application and satisfactory performance in antenna practice.
