Gravity Satellite Altimeter Reveals the Sea Floor Topography

To address the shortcomings such as the low accuracy or the ability to resist gross error in the process of obtaining the density differences between the gravity data and the seafloor topography by gravity geological method, a new method is proposed to obtain the scale factor parameters by using robust estimation method, which takes into account the influence of gross errors in input data and the contribution of density differences. Through to the marianas trench, the south China sea, part of the Antarctic Ross bay sea area as the research object of adaptive gravity geological method. The results show that in the depth of 3000 m or the terrain is smooth waters, adaptive inversion of gravity geological method can achieve good results, the best constant density differences were 1.50 g/cm³, 1.40 g/cm³and 4.90 g/cm³. In some research areas, the depth model reverted by the adaptive gravity geological method is superior to the ETOPO1 model and the DTU10 model in accuracy, especially in areas with dense ship survey points and areas with flat seabed topography. The adaptive gravity geological method presents more detailed seabed topography and more dense coverage than the current international common sea depth model in some areas.
