FMCW-Radar-Based Vital-Sign Monitoring of Pet

With the increasing number of pets worldwide, the health of pets has become a focus of attention in recent years. At the same time, researchers are interested in detecting vital signs of pet, because the vital signs are the important indicators for the diagnosis and treatment of pet diseases. Among vital signs, respiration and heartbeat are the most frequently used. In this paper, based on FMCW radar, different algorithms are utilized to extract the respiration and heartbeat of pet from the radar signal. The respiration rate and heart rate obtained by wearable device are used as reference values to evaluate the accuracy of different algorithms. The experimental results demonstrate that FMCW radar can effectively and accurately monitor the respiration and heartbeat of pet.
