Enhancement of Bandwidth of Microstrip Antenna by Introducing Parasitic Feed Line

This paper present a new method to enhance the bandwidth of microstrip antenna. Based on this method, a new broadband microstrip antenna is designed. This paper innovatively adopts a parasitic feed line and places it under the radiation patch to excite the vertical polarization wave, which can greatly broaden the bandwidth. By improving the feed structure and optimizing the parameters, the VSWR of designed antenna is lower than 2 ranging from 1.42 GHz to 1.8 GHz, and the relative bandwidth reaches 23.6%. In addition, the antenna unit has a small size, which can realize large angle scanning in a wide frequency band. In this paper, a 4 X 4 array is simulated and verified the wideband large angle scanning performance.
