Optimal capacitor placement under distribution system using open-source toolbox

In the paper, optimal capacitor placement based problem has been solved under a distribution system-using an open-source Python tool i.e., Pandapower. Pandapower is a power system analysis tool used for various load flow analyses and system optimization in the power system. Pandapower is easy to use and appropriate for simulation and optimization for power system-based problems. In the paper, a distribution system, connected to main grid is considered for the placement of capacitor to minimize the active power losses, which will result in the reduction of power flow and stress on the feeder line. This technique effectively increased the life span of the network. It also provides benefits to the existing system to deals with the future load demand. To implement the proposed approach, the IEEE 33 bus data for the distribution system is utilized.
