Reduction of Cryptography Processing Upward in BGP Security Protocols: An Investigation

In computer networks, an autonomous system consists of a number of routes by which the packet can be transmitted from sender to receiver, and this routing protocol helps the sender to determine the specific path to be used for the transmission of packet. Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is among one of these routing protocols. Both research and standardization are investing amounts to make BGP safer and reliable. Therefore, to enforce security many cryptographic (encryption, decryption, key-based, etc.) techniques have been implied in BGP. This paper provides a literature review about the Security in Border Gateway Protocol and the cryptographic processing mechanisms used in securing Border Gateway Protocol for minimizing CPU workload/overhead.
