Correlation Study of Frailty and Depression in elderly patients with Chronic Kidney Disease

Objective: To understand the status of frailty and depression in elderly chronic kidney disease (CKD) and explore the correlation of frailty and depression in elderly CKD patients(ECKDP). Methods: 68 ECKDP s were investigated in cross-section aged 60 and older by convenient sampling. The survey tools include general data questionnaire, simple elderly depression scale, daily activity strength scale and frailty status were divided by weakening phenotype method of Fried. Results: The incidence of depression was 27.9%, 45.6% and 11.8% respectively. Frailty was positively associated with depression (P <0.01), and preweak and frail ECKDP had a higher risk of depression than in other elderly (P < 0.01). Conclusion: ECKDPs with early frailty and weak weakness are at high risk of depression symptoms, which can prevent and intervene in depression symptoms through various weak management to promote the physical and mental health of elderly CKD patients.
