A New Type of Ultrasonic Wall Thickness Measurement System Applied in Natural-gas Pipeline

Due to the lack of liquid coupling medium, the conventional ultrasonic wall thickness measurement system is difficult to carry out Inline Inspection (ILI) in the natural-gas pipeline. Because of the special work condition, a new type of ultrasonic wall thickness measurement system based on solid couplant has been developed to implement ILI. The experimental result shows that the system has same measurement accuracy compared with piezoelectric ultrasonic thickness meter, which realizes the goal of thickness measurement for natural-gas pipeline.
