Abstract:

The industry is on the cusp of yet another G transition in the cellular technology roadmap. This is a good time to pause and assess where we are and where we go next. 3G/4G/5G technologies have paved the way for data communications to a point where the wireless communications pipe is highly capable of very high data rates, relatively low latency, and high reliability. While it is expected that these fundamental key performance indicators (KPIs) will continue to evolve, the latest trends suggest that design principles for wireless communication systems need to be extended beyond the norm.
