Abstract:

We propose core-selective-switch-based branching-unit architectures and an efficient bidirectional core-assignment scheme for regional space-division-multiplexing submarine systems. The architectures increase the number of reconfigurable cores and halve the number of multi -core fibers in branching cables. © 2022 The Authors
