Caching with light: First demonstration of an Optical Cache Memory Prototype

An optical cache memory prototype is experimentally presented for the first time featuring 8-bit storage capability. It employs a 4×2 optical RAM bank relying on 5Gb/s monolithic InP Flip-Flops, an optical Tag comparator and all-passive Row/Column Decoding circuits.
