A Framework for the Determination of realistic Usage Profiles for Automated Shuttle Pods

Realistic testing and lifetime simulation of automated vehicles and all related components is a huge challenge during the development and testing phase of these components. In order to keep expenses as small as possible and hence also reduce the cost for the end-user, efforts for these tests should be reduced as well. For this purpose, realistic usage profiles are required, either for simulation or for testbed installations. Such usage profiles need to comprehensively represent the daily operation of an automated vehicle under different environmental conditions. This paper presents a novel approach for usage profile generation, including drive cycles for automated shuttle pods and weather profiles.
