Impact of Aspect Ratio and Green Surfaces on the outdoor Thermal Comfort of the Street Canyon under Mediterranean Climate

In summer, the Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon, which affects outdoor thermal comfort and building energy consumption, is an increasingly common problem in high-density cities. This phenomenon can be mitigated by resilient design of buildings and urban spaces. In this context, we propose this study to analyze the impact of the aspect ratio and green surfaces on the urban microclimate of the city of Tangier located in the north west of Morocco (Mediterranean climate). To achieve this, the urban microclimate simulation tools ENVI-met was used. The results obtained show that aspect ratio H/W>1 attenuates more UHI effect during the summer season in the case of the climate of the city of Tangier climate compared to a ratio H/W≤1.
