Assesment of DVR Using Conventional VSI and NPC-MLI To Mitigate Voltage Sag/Swell

This work presents methods by which a DVR is used in mitigating power quality problems. This work present modeling and simulation analysis of a DVR using conventional Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) and Neutral Point Clamped multi-level inverter (NPC-MLI). The control of VSI is designed using synchronous reference frame-based PI controller and for NPC-MLI, direct feed forward controller is used. The feed forward controller processes the error signal and generates the switching pulse for NPC-MLI. The analysis of the designed DVR is carried out for non-linear loading, voltage sag as well as swell. DVR improves voltage profile and to mitigate sag using MALTAB Simulink environment.
