Performance Analysis of Medium access control protocol for Wireless Body Area Network

Recent research into the Internet of Things in e-health care, as well as the integration of ultra-low-power and light-weight sensor mote, necessitates the development of Wireless Body Area Networks. The WBAN faces a new hurdle towards both in medical applications and consumer applications. In order to minimize energy, communication reliability, interference, and quality of service (QoS) MAC protocol plays a essential role in WBANs. In this study, existing MAC (i.e.) B-MAC, L-MAC and X-MAC protocols are categorized, discussed, and compared the research based on the coexistence parameters. Finally, performance evaluation is conducted on Omnet++ simulator in terms of PDR, energy. Further, this article briefly sums up the open research problems that could be solved with possible findings, and then it comes to a conclusion.
