A Pointer Shape Printed Circuit Board Antenna for 5G Mid-Band Application

In this article, an attempt is made to emulate an effective high-efficiency pointer antenna for 5G applications by operating in the Sub-6GHz band, whichfalls under the IEEEp 802.11ax and the ITUn77 band. Thisletter sheds insight on the iterative antenna design investigation to assess the high efficiency design, and the requirements were met with the support of the ANSYS EM suite version 2021, which has outstanding simulation accuracy. The simulated and fabricated pointer patch antenna has an overall dimension of 35.6 * 35.6 * 1.6 mm

and is fabricated on the FR4 dielectric material. The corresponding value of the reflection coefficient at 3.52GHz is −34 dB, and since the radiation efficiency of the proposed antenna is around 83.6%, the obtained simulated gain is 4.1 dB.
