Semantic Security Based Secrecy Maps for Vehicular Communications

The concept of secrecy maps has been recently introduced as a means to characterize the wireless environment from the perspective of physical-layer security (PLS). In this paper we address the issue of generation of semantic security based secrecy maps for vehicular communication networks. Of interest are maps that relate any eavesdropper location in the radio environment to the expected share of vehicular links that an eavesdropper can monitor in the sense that the semantic security level is worse than a predefined value. Defined in this way, these maps can be used to identify certain locations/regions in the network that are particularly attractive to potential eavesdroppers, i.e. that are vulnerable from a network perspective. To integrate contextual information for the generation of secrecy maps in the vehicular setting, we resort to the Geometry-based Efficient propagation Model for V2V communication (GEMV2). We also discuss how the information extracted from the generated maps can be applied to customize the vehicular environment via the employment of intelligent reconfigurable surfaces.
