A Bird-caused Damage Risk Assessment System for Power Grid Based on Intelligent Data Platform

Bird damage in the power grid are common but easily to be neglected, this article proposes a regional bird-caused damage assessment rule according to the natural environment of the power grid, formulates the distribution map of bird-caused damage scope in combination with the collected data of bird related activities and migration, this map is interacted with the power grid asset management system to generate the state assessment diagram of the overall bird-caused damage risk of the power grid. combined with the seasonal characteristics of bird-caused damage, a summary risk report based on the information of Geographic Information Systems and Haversine geospatial distance algorithm is formed regularly, which provides power system effective data support for bird-caused damage, so as to improve the security of the network. Finally, the system is developed and implemented in Yunnan Power Grid, results of the system operations demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our system in handling with the bird-caused damage.
