Modeling of LCC-HVDC Considering Sending/Receiving-Terminal System Using Harmonic State Space Method

With the development of power electronics dominated power systems, the dynamic response speed of modern power systems is significantly faster than traditional power systems. High voltage direct current (HVDC) technology based on line commutated converter (LCC) exhibits multi-time scale characteristics. Considering the switching process, the multi-timescale dynamic response between AC and DC can be established more accurately. In this paper, the intermittent time-varying characteristics of LCC-HVDC’s original relationships is given priority consideration. Based on the linear time-periodic theory (LTP), a small-signal model of LCC-HVDC considering sending/receiving-terminal system is established by using the harmonic state space (HSS) method and the results from the detailed switch model of LCC-HVDC are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model.
