RTK-based Measuring System of Vehicle Turning Radius

The motor vehicle handling stability test is extremely important in modern automobile testing, and the steering radius occupies an important technical index in the handling stability test. At present, the measurement of the turning radius of motor vehicles mainly adopts the water drop method, which has large measurement errors, difficult operation, and high requirements for the test environment. This paper studies the measurement method of vehicle steering radius based on RTK technology, establish a suitable test model according to the test scenario, performs data fusion by GNSS system and RTK base station, obtain precise positioning coordinate information, calculate the minimum distance from the test point to the setpoint (i.e., the center of the circle). To obtain the minimum relative steering radius, calculate the maximum value of all test point coordinates, and obtain the minimum absolute turning radius. This study has high testing accuracy, adaptability, operability, and has excellent use in practical applications.
