Effect of water spinach with varying feed composition on Biogas production

In the issues of the energy crisis, the role of renewable energy is being more and more significant to accomplish the potential demand of global energy. In this research, we explore and improve a new feed material in the field of renewable bioenergy. Being situated in a sub-tropical region there grow a number of aquatic weeds in Bangladesh which can be converted into useful biogas. In this paper, water spinach (WS) is an aquatic weed, promising new feed material for biogas production as well as efficient CO2 sequestration. In this context, the characteristic and potentiality of water spinach with cow dung (CD) and chicken manure (CM) is evaluated for biogas production. This experiment proves the authenticity of our research. The experimental results surpass others on production rate. Here we set up lab-scale anaerobic digestion production by varying different mixing compositions of WS, CD, CM, and the anaerobic digestion was performed at room temperature for 55 days.
